The target came with pasters clustered, black on black, in the paper broad center. The group, from a Rick Freudenberg rifle, measured just under 6 inches...Now, you say, a 6-inch group hardly shines, no matter how many shots it holds. But these 20 rounds from Rick's 6mm/.308 Improved weren't fired at 100 yards. The target was 500 yards away. That's essentially minute-of-angle accuracy twice as far as I've ever shot an elk!

...Rick has built dozens of very accurate rifles in his Everett, Washington, shop.

...Skill is a matter of keeping the sight on target when squeezing the trigger. Which is why I was so impressed by the 6-inch group delivered by the 6mm/.308 improved. You see, Gary Rasmussen, who's a crack marksman on the U.S. Palma team, didn't fire Rick's rifle from a bench. He shot that coffee-can-lid group at 500 yards from prone without a rest.
